RS-232 is an industry standard. RS-422 is
used when greater cable lengths are required and/or where noise
interference is an issue.
Definition:
RS-422, if enabled, allows communication
through RS-422 I/O lines.
When RS-422 is enabled, RS-232 is
disabled.
When RS-422 is disabled, RS-232 is
enabled.

Note: The default setting can
only be changed in readers with multiplexed RS-232/RS-422 ports. It
